As Team and tasks are growing, in many occasions is needed create tickets to execute routine tasks, to schedule it by automations will help us to stay on the track and don’t miss any periodic task like monthly reports or weekly maintenance tasks, etc..
For this case we will set an automation that will create a ticket to prepare a report of teams performance, it will assign to you and labeled as “monthly-report”
Steps
1- Open the Automation option on Project Settings

2- Click on “Create rule”
3- As Trigger click on “Scheduled”

4- Set as Occurrence, every Month at first day of the month

5- Below it you can see when will be created the next tickets

6- Above the “Occurrence” are the Basic options, for now just ensure that “End date” have select the option “Never ends” in another post we will explore the “Advanced” tab

7- Ok, at this moment we have set the Scheduled like that, click on “Next”

8- Now is time to set the Action

9- Click on “Create issue”

10- Create a new issue as a Task in the Same Project

11- Set a Summary and Description for the new ticket

12- At this point a new ticket will be created as schedule, now we have to set the Assignee, click on “Choose fields to set”

13- Select a user as Assignee, for this example assign it to your user.

14- Then click on Next, and the result should be like this

15- Turn on the Rule, set the Rule Name and Who can Edit.

16- Click on “Turn on rule” and the automation is ready

This is an interesting use of Jira Automation to save us time and ensure dont missing important tasks.
